A Fellowship of the Pen

Robin and I hope you all have enjoyed the time we spent together as much as we did. We also hope you may have gained more understanding of short story writing and to keep writing daily.

So, after eight weeks of meeting at our church for some community over creative writing, I am so proud to announce that the stories that have been created in this group has been published through Amazon and can be found here: https://amzn.to/3KI2ReL

It has been an amazing journey through these last weeks in preparation of getting the stories finished and putting them all together in the book. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of talent that showed up!

There were a lot of stories and tales (tails) centering around some furry characters and a few non-fictional, first-person accounts of life and living in a fallen world. Unfortunately, we did lose one of our members during the process and we thought it only fitting to dedicate this first edition of Green Country Magazine and Literary Journal to one of us, Cindy Kausek. She will be forever a part of our hearts and our group.

I have to admit though that sometimes the added stress of editing, layout, and production was almost too much to bear – especially at the end of the eight weeks when the pressure of getting a physical product into the hands of our readers was extremely high. This is when the thought of a “one and done” issue crossed my mind more than once.

But we knew the process would be challenging going into it and decided to take it on anyway. I’m glad we did because the end result has been truly amazing!

Thank you to everyone who participated in this first (of many, hopefully) life group in creative writing. Robin and I hope you all have enjoyed the time we spent together as much as we did. We also hope you may have gained more understanding of short story writing and to keep writing daily.

I would like to think that just because the group’s time has ended that each of you will make a habit of writing and continue doing something you are so passionate about. Who knows, maybe we will see you again in a subsequent installment of A Fellowship of the Pen.

Thank you for accepting me four weeks after the group started. You helped me catch up and go forward towards actually completing a short story. What I realized throughout this journey was I avoided writing stories that would involve "dialog". During our writing process I was able to step out of my secure writing box and venture into the world of including conversations in my story. Thank you for guiding me toward a goal I had but never took the steps in reaching it. You may have opened doors I never was brave enough to open. Thank you and I count you all as blessings from our Lord.
